With 36 holes of pure Palmer-designed golf, it is a lot of work to keep it looking and playing great throughout the year. Our Turf Care team has experience managing all types weather and wildlife. Their routine includes daily mowing and trimming, proper fertilization, irrigation and weed control.

Natural Habitat
The Alabama Gulf Coast is home to numerous species of deer, birds, snakes, turtles, and alligators. Our golf course is a peaceful refuge for many of these creatures, so we ask our guests to respect any natural visitors and keep their distance.

Jim DeReuil, Director of Agronomy
As Director of Agronomy, Jim DeReuil’s responsibilities include managing seasonal agronomy practices for all Honours Golf properties, purchasing bulk materials and equipment, managing club superintendents, and ensuring that courses are maintained to Honours Golf standards. During the last 10 years, DeReuil played a major role in the renovation and reconstruction of several of Honours Golf's properties and managed facilities.  DeReuil started his career at Jamal and Associates as project geologist and soils scientist. Later he served at Augusta National Golf Club and Crooked Creek Golf Club where he oversaw the construction, grow-in and turf care operations. Later he joined Kelly Plantation and managed the construction oversight, grow-in, turf care operations for Honours Golf. DeReuil earned a bachelor of science in geology from University of Florida and a bachelor of science in agronomy from Michigan State University.

Jason Baumeister, Superintendent
With an associate’s degree in gulf course management, Jason has experience in maintenance and construction. He spent time as an intern at Greystone Country Club, Birmingham, AL learning about bent grass turf before continuing his career in south Alabama. Jason spent two years learning the ins and outs of building a golf course from the ground up while working for a construction company that built two Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail courses, Lakewood in Point Clear and Ross Bridge near Birmingham. Jason’s continued to build on his experiences by working for the Lake Forest Country Club and Pensacola Country Club, in addition to Craft Farms. When it comes to keeping the course in immaculate condition, Jason is a pro! He strives to create and maintain the best golf experience under ever-changing seasonal changes and unusual weather challenges.
